Babies are quite the talk today. I got word this morning that it was a boy! No, not the royal baby but my own little nephew-to-be. He will not inherit a royal throne, but he will be the first of his generation to carry on my maiden name, Wybaczynsky. It’s a bit more difficult to pronounce than baby Cambridge, wouldn’t you say? Congrats to both my brother and his wife and Will and Kate on their exciting news. Actual royalty or not, I look forward to spoiling our family’s new little prince when he arrives in December.

Another baby I am looking forward to meeting is the little sister of this adorable girl. She will make her arrival in October and I am thrilled that I will be in California at the time to capture her newborn session. If she’s as beautiful as her big sis, I know we’re going to get some great shots.

I’ll be available for California sessions October 12-18. More info coming soon or email me for details, spots are already booking quickly!

Sometimes, I don’t want a session to end. This was one of those sessions. These boys were so precious and full of energy and their parents were just as much fun. We had a blast together. I think the city of Austin can rest safely knowing these superheroes are on the prowl. I’ll be back in Austin in late October for more family sessions. Message me if you’d like more info.

It’s a good thing I sprung for the 64g memory on my iPhone. Because I take lots of pictures with my phone. And by lots, I mean lots. I currently have over 6,000 images stored on my phone. Despite the fact that I use my iPhone as much (if not more) than my two Canons, sometimes I need an little inspiration so my Instagram feed isn’t all sunsets and selfies.

In the past, I’ve tried daily photo challenges with varying success, usually failing to continue after just a few days. But for some reason I decided July is the month. I will take a different photo every day, inspired by a theme. So I did a quick online/Instagram search and found…nothing. Well, I found a few things but none of them were calling my name so I decided to create my own. Once I had completed the list, I thought it would be fun to share. So here it is…

My list is not meant to challenge your technical photography skills, it’s just to give you a fun theme or idea of what to shoot each day. Because it’s July, the contents of the list have a summertime theme. When I created the list I was intending it for myself, so many of the items involve summertime activities that I have in my mental bucket list. I’m hoping this will force me to get out of the blissful comfort of my air-conditioned living room  and enjoy the sunshine.

Enjoy and happy summer!

On Saturday, I attended the 8th Annual Jazz Age Picnic on Governor’s Island. I am a HUGE fan of this event and have attended the past 3 years. A day spent dressed up in vintage threads, picnicing and dancing to a fabulous  jazz band on an historic island is my idea of a great time. This year’s festivities did not disappoint. My only complaint was the day seemed to go too fast this year. I felt like I took very few pictures (compared to previous years) but I guess I was just having too much fun. That, or too much gin and Pimm’s (not mixed together). Which reminds me, if you’ve never had a Pimm’s cup made by a Brit you are missing out in life. Few things are more refreshing on a summer day.

Here is a little slideshow of the pics I did manage to take. Many of them from the Charleston dance contest. The dancers were the bee’s knees. Keep your eye out in the gallery for a few gems. Including a mother and infant in matching pink fringe and Lady Gaga. Ok, I don’t really know if it’s Lady Gaga, but she looks so much like her that I’m calling her that. You decide.

As we rushed to get the last ferry back to Brooklyn, we took a few more pics.

I can hardly wait until the next picnic this August and another Pimm’s cup. Thanks to my beloved and my awesome friends for making it such a spectacular day.

If you want to see my pics from last year’s celebration they’re posted here.

Happy Mother’s Day this weekend to all the moms out there!

A few of my favorite mama and child shots.
